A Rare Sighting

Tri-Cities+Northern+Lights

The northern lights were seen along the horizon of northern Washington and in some parts of  Idaho. The lights happen because of particles that start flowing from the sun get caught in the planet’s magnetic field. It started around 8:30 and it only lasted a few hours. Weather, timing, and location all were factors into being able to seeing the lights.

The best place to be in to see the lights is a dark locations with low light pollution. CMEs are where near a billion tons of plasma from the sun arrive at Earth. The lights causes a major disturbance of Earth’s magnetosphere and it produces the light colors.
