Highway From Burbank To Walla Walla Widens

New 4-Lane Stretch Under Construction

Highway 12 is slowly changing landscape from Burbank to Walla Walla.  Workers will continue construction on the U.S. highway 12 West of College Place through the winter time. They are planning to build a new highway that goes from Walla Walla to Tri-Cities. They have been working on this stretch of highway for about six months and are nearly half done with it.

When completed, the trip to Walla Walla will be safer, faster and smoother.  They are expected to continue working on it even as the temperature drops through the holidays.   Since 2003, work has been going on and off to replace the old two-lane highway with a four-lane road to improve the safety, capacity and traffic between Walla Walla and the Tri-Cities.  One day in the future, the drive to Walla Walla from Burbank will be much different than what we experience today.  You can see some construction activity as you drive into Walla Walla looking to the west.
