Seattle Seahawks Hold It Down In Season Opener
Seattle Beats Russell Wilson On His Return
It might have taken ten seasons, but it looks like Geno Smith finally unlocked his potential. The veteran quarterback led the Seattle Seahawks to a 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos in a 2022 season opener on Monday Night Football.
Smith put forth one of the best outings of his NFL career, finishing 23-of-28 for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Also Seahawks safety Jamal Adams was carted off in the second quarter of Monday night’s victory over the broncos with what coach Pete Carroll deemed a serious injury to his left quadriceps tendon.
To make things even more interesting former Seattle Seahawks Russell Wilson made his Denver Broncos debut and finished off the night for 29-of-42 for 340 yards and one touchdown. Many fans had booed Russel Wilson as he made his way on the field after being traded last March for 3 players and 5 future round picks.
After the victory, Smith had a message for his critics: “They wrote me off. I ain’t write back, though!” Smith and the Seahawks will try to keep the momentum going Sunday in an NFC West match up at the San Francisco 49ers.
