Basketball season is officially over now with the State Tournament being completed. The Columbia Burbank Coyotes had an amazing run making it all the way to face off with the Colfax Bulldogs in the State Championship game. It was an entertaining game and a close game until the Bulldogs went on a 8-0 run with 2 minutes to go. Sadly our Coyotes couldn’t come back from this deficit losing 65-52 and the Colfax Bulldogs were crowned champions.
Quincy Scott led the team in points with 16 with 12 rebounds and Elijah Kinsey right behind him with 13 and 6 boards, and Tristan Frimodt with 9, Caden Ross with 7, and Crew Pariera finished with 4 points.
During the tournament the Coyotes also played Adna where they were winners in the quarterfinal game by 6 points in a 74-68 victory. Quincy Scott had 27 and 10, Tristan Frimodt added 18 and 7 and Elijah Kinsey chipped in 5 and 10.
The Coyotes win sent them to the SemiFinal game. This game definitely didn’t disappoint as the Coyotes steam rolled through them once again 64-54 where Tristan Frimodt finished with a 16 point 10 rebound double double. Both Caden Ross and Quincy Scott added 17 points. A highlight that had the tv broadcasters and fans come out of their seats was in the 3rd quarter when Quincy Scott grabbed a Crew Pariera missed off the rim and flushed it for a slam. This pushed the lead to 18 points and the momentum of the game. The Burbank victory sent the Coyotes to the State Championship game for the first time in school history.
Burbank didn’t bring home a State Championship as Colfax completed their undefeated season and the Coyotes suffered their first loss of the season. The Coyotes finished 26-1 and the best season in school history.
