Mrs. Tapia
Gear Up Advisor
Mrs. Tapia is the Gear Up advisor for Columbia High School. She is employed with WSU and has been working with them for 10 years. Mrs. Tapia has been working in the Columbia School District for about five years now. Before working at Columbia she worked at Chiawana high school for three years. Mrs. Tapia said that she is lucky to be able to work with all of the students. When asked what she liked about the school she said that she likes the smaller size which allows her to be able to make connections with students.
When Mrs. Tapia isn’t at work, she likes to hang out with her husband, daughters, and two Chihuahuas. Mrs. Tapia grew up in Sunnyside, and when in high school Mrs. Tapia danced on the dance team! In college, Mrs. Tapia studied in Guatemala and Mexico- that’s why she’s fluent in Spanish. She loves to chat with students, so stop by her office located near the Library. Her favorite color is the rainbow and sunset colors. Mrs. Tapia is a Scorpio and enjoys making Canva posters. She is also the one who decided to put up the “Tearable Puns” around the school. Her office is located inside the library so stop by and talk to her if you need help with college.
