Did you know that the Columbia School District in Burbank is thinking about a more balanced calendar? Its not a drastic change but a balanced calendar is a way of modifying the traditional 180-day school calendar and spreading the days out to create breaks or short intercessions within the year.  The end date in June will be pushed back closer to July but the students will gain a few weeks of breaks during the fall and spring.

The reason for this new school calendar is so that we don’t lose what we learn  over the 8 week summer. The term used in education is “learning loss”, this is good for people who don’t like staying home doing nothing for three months straight. The CSD, Burbank’s school district doesn’t plan on taking this up for the 2023-24 school year as we are currently in the calendar for this year.  But it will be adopted by the spring of 24′ by the Board of Directors for the school year 2024-25. So, what do you think about this?  There will be local informational discussions for community and students to see if we want this as a school district.
