Alabama and Texas over Florida State?

Undefeated Florida State doesn’t make the College Football Playoffs
Alabama and Texas over Florida State?

With the Conference Championship week ending in College Football the playoff committee had big decisions to make due to the upsets and outcomes over the course of a couple of games. The 11-1 Texas Longhorns steamrolled through the Oklahoma State Cowboys in a 49-21 win to secure a Big 12 conference Championship.

Another 11-1 team in Alabama upset #1 Georgia in the SEC championship game 27-24 which had the committee in a tough situation if Florida State would win the game. Which the ended up beating Louisville 16-6, Florida State has had a wild season which no one thought they’d do this good in finishing undefeated on the season, however a couple weeks ago against Miami, Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis broke his leg on a scramble for a couple yards. Which made Florida State have a couple of weeks before Selection Sunday to find the quarterback they needed to lead them to a national championship.

With teams like Alabama and Texas playing earlier in the year the winner of that game which was Texas should definitely be the deciding factor between those two programs when making the decision in the playoffs. Crimson Tide beating what the committee thought was the best team also gives them a good case to make the playoffs.

When it came to the selection the committee had Florida State as the “first team out”. Leaving out an undefeated conference champion is unheard of. Even Jordan Travis spoke upon the topic saying “I wish my leg broke earlier in the season so y’all could see this team is much more than the quarterback. I thought results matter. 13-0 and this roster matches up across any team in those top 4 rankings.” It will be exciting to see how Florida State plays against Georgia in the Capitol One Orange Bowl and try to make a statement that their team is much more than their quarterback.
