Veteran’s Day

It’s More Than Just A No School Day

This Thursday, November 11 we don’t have school. Do you know the reason why we don’t have school though? It’s because we are celebrating and observing Veteran’s Day. We get the day off of school because it is a federal holiday to honor military veterans and anyone who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Veteran’s Day is observed every year on November 11 in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918 that signaled the end of World War I. There are many Veteran’s Day parades and celebrations all over the United States to show respect for all of our past and present veterans of the U.S. So on Thursday, if you get the chance, please thank a veteran. Without their service to this country, we wouldn’t have all of the freedoms and liberties that we have today. The least we can do to show our respect and honor them is just to say “thank you for your service”. It may not seem like much but it means a lot to the brave men and women who fought for us.
