D1 College Football Whose On Top?

Kansas is undefeated, is this a call back to the historic 2007 season?

D1 College Football Whose On Top?

College football is in full swing and isn’t it exciting? We have new teams making a huge splash in the lake known as college football. University of Washington is 4-0 currently and are looking to compete for the top spot in the PAC-12. Last time they secured the PAC-12 title was in 2018.

Once again the SEC is showing why they are a powerhouse in division 1 FBS, The Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide are both 4-0. You cannot count these two teams out because these teams are championship teams with potential Heisman winners. Dark horse teams for this year NC State (4-0), Florida State (4-0), (Michigan (4-0), USC (4-0), and UCLA (4-0).

Upsets this year have been Appalachian State beating #17 Texas A&M 17-14, Old Dominion beating Virginia Tech 20-17, Any Kansas game so far, and Delaware Beating Navy 14-7.

For local teams WSU is 3-1 losing their most recent game against #13 Oregon, EWU is struggling currently on a losing streak of two, they are ranked 8th in the big sky after one conference game (loss to Montana State) hopefully they can turn their season around however, they play Florida this Sunday so they have a tough match up this week. They also had 70 points dropped on them by Oregon so changes must be made in order to be competitive against Florida.

I mentioned Kansas previously but they are looking like a solid team. Kansas just won the March Madness tourney last winter but Kansas hasn’t been 3-0 in football since 2009 and the last couple of seasons for them have been less than stellar to say the least. Last year Kansas went 2-10 almost upsetting the Oklahoma sooners however, they did upset the Texas longhorns in a 57-56 overtime thriller. Their new head coach Lance Leipold has been changing the culture for the better and the players have been buying into it that’s why they have been successful in the early parts of the season.
