River Rivalry 2022

Coyotes Come Up Short

The River Rivalry has been around longer than the guys playing in it. Burbank hosted Riverview from Finley on Friday.  It was senior night for Burbank.  The four seniors — Michael Lenke, Christian Luce, Creete Jackson, and Braxton Taylor were honored before the game.

The Coyotes battled the Panthers to a 6-6 tie at halftime.  The Coyotes trailed 14-12 late in the 4th quarter and the final drive stalled as the Coyotes got multiple 15 yard penalties.   Michael Lenke had  270 rushing yards and Elijah Kinsey Rushed for two touchdowns and had an interception. The Coyotes came up short with the comeback drive and fell to the panthers 12-14 taking loss #2 on the season.  Finley won the league championship but both teams will go into the post season in a few weeks.

The Coyotes play Tri-Cities Prep this Friday –if the Coyotes win they will travel to Kittitas and if they lose they will travel to Goldendale.  Prep and Burbank are tied in league standings at 3-1, Friday’s game is at Chiawana HS at 7:00 pm.
