Shazam Fury of the Gods opening week was seen as one of the most disappointing DCEU openings with reveal of drama. Details reveal that the Rock refused to appear in Shazam sequel despite the comic connection between characters. Some believe the Rock did this to focus on himself and his own movie, others also believe that he asked for Henry Cavill’s return as superman to give fans what they want with the idea of a big upcoming versus movie. The appearance of the justice society was cut from the Shazam sequel as well as The rock didn’t want them in that film.

Despite the Rock’s control which he shouldn’t have had, all his work would’ve been in vain as plans to reboot the DCEU were in the works with recasts for superman and batman. Since then the Rock has distanced himself from Warner Brothers.
